Movie awards are not only about the winners and the losers but also a festival of tuxedos, sparkly dresses, heavy jewels and thousands glasses of heavily branded champagne. The BAFTAS, or as how we always know about it as the British Oscar, just like all leading film award ceremonies, were a spectacular evening praising the talents and achievement of cinema in the past year.
The hard work was definitely worth it for Leonardo di Caprio and the cast of ‘ The Revenant’ when they scored the most important awards for the night such as : Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor in a Leading Role. It looks like fans are getting closer and closer to the moment when they see Leo finally gets his hand on a golden statue in Los Angeles this weekend. His moving speech dedicated to his mother was another highlight of the night. Kate Winslet (once Leo’s lover on the big screen) also won an award for her impeccable role in Steve Jobs. Mad Max and Furry Road – another big winner this year was being awarded for their exceptional work of visual effects and costume design.
Our favourite moment was witnessing the flawless Cate Blanchet, slaying in her custom Alexander McQueen feather frock and nominee/British sweetheart Eddie Redmayne holding his pregnant wife’s gown from behind on the red carpet. He did not forget that Sunday was Valentine Day after all…
