SoHo, located in the lower Manhattan neighborhood, known for its art galleries, upscale boutiques, buzzing atmosphere and trendy restaurants, it attracts not only the cool kids of New York, but also a top international crowd. I had the pleasure to live in SoHo for one month during my stay in New York. Since New York Fashion Week is kicking off in a few days, here is the first part of my New York Special, starting with my favorite places at my favorite part of the city: SOHO.
BRUNCH TIME AT THE BUTCHER’s DAUGHTER
While eating avocado toasts and burrata, drinking fresh juices, you get to see Soho’s scene and enjoy a relaxed Sunday morning in a cool atmosphere. http://thebutchersdaughter.com
STRALA YOGA WITH TARA STILES
When in Soho, you should definitely visit the yoga classes (walk-in/no appointment needed) of my friend Tara, who is internationally known as THE YOGA REBELL. Check it out and you will know why… ;-) http://stralayoga.com
ART
Soho is very known for its amazing art galleries. One of my favorites is LUMAS. www.lumas.com
SHOPPING & INSPIRATION AT LOUIS VUITTON
The Louis Vuitton SoHo Store is something unique in the world. French vintage design welcomes you at their beautiful atelier, where all the tailor-made pieces are being finished. A MUST, when in Soho. Btw: I love the shop opening hours in SoHo. 11AM to 7PM, definitely made for entrepreneurs, artists and everyone who likes to start the day a bit later, than it starts on Wallstreet ;-) www.louisvuitton.com
BEAUTY TREATS
A beauty trend that I have followed in NYC for the first time is eye-lash extensions. Ladies: no mascara needed anymore for minimum 4 weeks. The best place for these and other beauty treats, is definitely the Laser Touch Soho Clinic. www.lasertouchsoho.com
COFFEE & BOOKS
The McNally Jackson Bookstore invites you to zip coffee, work on your laptop or read some books and watch what’s happening on Prince Street. http://www.mcnallyjackson.com
TEA TIME & CINEMA NIGHTS
Enjoy tea time with your girlfriends in the cutest little garden oasis of the Crosby Street Hotel. In the evenings they offer movie screenings, drinks and popcorn at their private cinema. https://www.firmdalehotels.com/hotels/new-york/crosby-street-hotel/
TEA TASTING AT PALAIS DES THÈS
When speaking about tea.. Are you a tea fan? Try to book a tea tasting appointment at my favorite french tea brand with a wonderful tradition. PALAIS DES THÈS, SOHO.
AFTERNOON SWIM AT TRUMP TOWER SOHO
Home-made iced-tea (called Arnold Palmer), nice views and a cool spot to hang out (and swim) during the day. https://www.trumphotelcollection.com/soho/
DINNERS THAT TURNED INTO MORNINGS
Our all-time favorite drinks and dinner spot was definitely BALZEM, Manhattan’s local hotspot with celebrity factor. We passed by every few days and mostly ended up staying till the morning. A cute little wine bar on Mott Street, Soho, that reminds you of a romantic parisian brasserie. Ice-cold rosès, delicious tapas, a cool crowd and a charming team. http://www.balzem.com
BEST PIZZA IN TOWN
RUBIROSA, a small traditional italian restaurant that is worldwide known for its delicious pizza. Make sure you book early, there are waiting lists every evening. rubirosanyc.com
SPEAKEASY
A mexican deli during the day.. and when you go through the kitchen to a hidden door in the back, you come to La Esquina, a speakeasy bar with the best cocktails of town. http://www.esquinanyc.com
DRINKS WITH A VIEW
The Hugo Hotel Rooftop is the perfect spot to see the sunset with a glass of champagne. http://www.hotelhugony.com
WHERE TO STAY?
The boutique luxury hotel SIXTY Soho is the current hotspot for international artists, celebrities, bloggers but also booked for movie or photoshoots (Spiderman). We absolutely enjoyed our stay there, and guess whom we met… ;-) http://www.sixtyhotels.com/hotel/soho/
ENJOY YOUR STAY IN MY FAVORITE CITY! :-)
