It’s the 7th of July 2017 today. A special day for our friend and double Olympic gold-medalist Fabian Cancellara. 7 is a number, that has been a lucky number in his life, especially in his career – it was a number that has always been present in his numerous successes all over the world. To honor his achievements and their long-term partnership, IWC Schaffhausen and Fabian Cancellara created a limited edition watch, the “IWC Ingenieur Chronograph Edition Cancellara” – limited to 77 pieces, of course. The sporty yet elegant watch represents Fabian’s style and pays attention to important details: A particularly special feature is the sapphire-glass back printed with a spoke design that is reminiscent of a racing bike. To celebrate the launch, IWC Schaffhausen and Fabian Cancellara invited a number of friends, clients and media to join Fabian on a 77 km bike tour around Fabian’s home territory Bern.
After our bike tour in Monaco at the Laureus World Sports Awards earlier this year, I was very excited to join another bike ride with the IWC family, Fabian and Patrick Seabase, who is another friend of ours, IWC ambassador and talented freestyle rider.
The day kicked-off with an official presentation of the “IWC Cancellara Edition” at Hotel Schweizerhof Bern. From there we took our bikes and started the “Spartacus” (Fabian’s nickname) ride through the Swiss mountains to Moosegg, with a lot of fun on our way. Arrived on top of a mountain, not only picturesque views awaited us, also another surprise: another IWC Ambassador and 2 Michelin Star Chef Nenad Mlinarevic (known from Restaurant Focus at Park Hotel Vitznau) preparing a declious and healthy lunch for the group.
This truly is an experience, that money can’t buy – and 100% IWC style. Thanks to the IWC Team, Fabian and Nenad for making this day special and so much fun.
