As someone who’s been close to Audemars Piguet for years, I’ve always admired how naturally the brand connects its heritage to contemporary art and culture. This new collaboration with KAWS feels like the perfect next chapter—exciting, daring, and true to both Audemars Piguet’s craftsmanship and KAWS’s artistic world. His iconic COMPANION figure has been reimagined here with a fresh perspective, brought to life through a shared passion for creativity and detail.
This isn’t just a watch; it’s a piece of art that happens to tell time. The Audemars Piguet 43 mm Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon “COMPANION” puts KAWS’s work front and center. Through the sapphire crystal, COMPANION’s hands and face seem to press against the glass, almost like it’s trying to peek out at the world beyond. It’s playful, unexpected, and perfectly in line with KAWS’s earlier “ad intervention” days.
Instead of traditional time markers, Audemars Piguet uses a peripheral display that lets COMPANION take over the spotlight. Limited to just 250 pieces, it’s a perfect mix of bold creativity and technical mastery—something both Audemars Piguet and KAWS excel at. The clean lines and striking form of KAWS’s art merge beautifully with the precision of the tourbillon movement, turning the watch into something truly special.
Beyond the watch itself, KAWS has brought COMPANION to life on a much bigger scale—literally. Perched on the roof of Audemars Piguet’s headquarters in Le Brassus, the 11-meter sculpture is a striking presence against the Swiss landscape. As part of the KAWS:HOLIDAY series, this installation invites us to pause and reflect on the connection between nature, art, and craftsmanship.
Seeing COMPANION towering over the Vallée de Joux—where Audemars Piguet’s story began—is a powerful contrast. It’s both playful and monumental, reminding us that creativity can thrive anywhere, from a watch dial to an open sky. The installation will be there until December 20, 2024, so there’s plenty of time to take it in.
This collaboration feels so right because it’s completely in line with Audemars Piguet’s long-standing relationship with the art world. For years, the brand has supported artists who push boundaries, from Art Basel partnerships to projects through their Contemporary Art Commission program. AP has never been into trends, but about championing genuine creative expression.

With KAWS, Audemars Piguet proves once again that a watch is not just about telling time, but about telling a story, starting a conversation, and exploring what’s possible. The Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon “COMPANION” brings all of that to life in a way that feels both innovative and familiar.
