It was the most beautiful sunny late summer week in British Columbia, Canada. A small group of dedicated activists, sustainability entrepreneurs, including me, and the LA MER family went on a journey to discover the miracle behind LA MER’s famous “miracle broth”.
For us to learn how one of the world’s most famous cremes is being made, LA MER hosted us for a glamorous kelp harvest day at the beach of Port Hardy, British Columbia. It started with the most delicious organic picnic prepared by a celebrated chef, followed by games on the beach.
Finally we got our runner suits and walked into the sea to accompany the local girls from “Keeping it Real” to harvest this special kelp, from which LA MER’s essence is made of.
To see how LA MER supports not only the ocean, but also the community and its stakeholders on all levels and wich such a positive energy was really great, and made me even more proud of working with this sustainable brand, that has such good values inside and out.
We’ve spontaneously met a group of indigenous people, who live in the area, that LA MER harvests its kelp from. They have joined our meditation and sound bath at sunset – and told us how grateful they are to LA MER for caring so much about their land and the sea. An experience, that cannot be planned, neither bought. And these are the moments, that show how real and authentic the brand really is.
After harvesting the kelp, we’ve learned how the kelp is being fermented in the Labs of LA MER and how originally recorded vibrations and sounds of the ocean are being played to the kelp in order for it to feel like its growing in his natural environment. Kelp is regenerating so fast. This is why it its so healing and regenerative for our skin too. If you want to know more about LA MER’s history, read it here, where I talk about what I’ve learned during my visit to the LA MER Labs.Â
A true LA MER Masterclass – which is innovating with every new year I am taking it – obviously also involves the latest techniques of Face Yoga and Contouring. Did you know, that you can sculpt, de-wrinkle and tone your face, just by massaging special parts of your face every day (during your skincare routine)? Did you know that you can actually contour your face with the different textures of LA MER cremes, serums and lotions? (Something you usually you have to use different shades of make-up for). So many new and exciting things, that I’ve learned, which make my beauty routine more special and revitalizing – and my glow even brighter. Thank you for this incredible experience to the whole team of LA MER.
