This month’s full moon is going to be a special one and will be the biggest supermoon in decades. On November 14, 2016 the supermoon will be so close to the earth that it will look 30 times brighter and 14% larger than a regular full moon. The last time this happened was in 1948 and it won’t happen again until November 2034. The supermoon not only stands for spiritual energy, depth, romance and the mysterious, it’s also one of nature’s most beautiful spectacles. In New York, the supermoon will be best visible during the night of November 13, 2016. Here are five ideas to experience the supermoon at its best.

How to be closest to the supermoon? Fly towards it! That’s what the innovative flight operator BLADE must have thought, when offering helicopter trips over New York to watch the supermoon amidst the spectacular Manhattan skyline. Departing from their Lounge at West 30th Street, BLADE offers helicopter seats for views of the supermoon at its best and during its most illuminating hours on Sunday, November 13, 2016 around 6 PM. An extraordinary experience, for sure.

Those who believe in the energies of moon phases know that all kind of spa treatments, especially reflex zone foot massages, are even more effective and powerful during a full moon or supermoon. Concentrating solely on the feet and lower legs, this treatment helps to relax the entire body and mind, ground energy and regulate the movement of Qi through the body. Before the treatment, high up and even closer to the moon, at The Peninsula’s beautiful and luxurious rooftop spa (terrace open when weather permits), one can enjoy a relaxing cup of tea with fantastic, inspiring and spectacular supermoon views over Manhattan.

What’s better than taking a re-energizing after work (or romantic) walk in the park? The nicest places in Manhattan with the best chances of having a clear view of the supermoon in full bloom are: along the East River, the Brooklyn Bridge or at Brooklyn Bridge Park as well as parts of Central Park and The High Line.
