Galerie Gmurzynska shows Mel Ramos in Zug

For some, Mel Ramos‘ artworks might be provocative, for others great fun… Real art enthusiasts call him “The King of Pin-Up”. Which he definitely is! The 81 year old, pop-artist Mel Ramos is a living legend, that has achieved to play in the same league as Warhol, Liechtenstein and Rosenquist.

Known for its impeccable taste and the eye for great talents, Galerie Gmurzynska currently hosts a Mel Ramos show at its  gallery space in Zug, Switzerland, which consists of various media like resin, bronze and steel sculptures, oil paintings, works won paper and lithographs. These works emphasize the diversity of the artists style and thoughts.

“Moreover, the exhibit echoes the importance of semiotics used by Ramos in deconstructing the nature of advertising. Here the fetishized objects are exposed as catalysts for brands, products and the depicted women themselves” the gallery says.

The opening event at the gallery took place on September 17, 2016 on the occasion of “Zuger Kunstnacht 2016” with presence of Mel Ramos himself as well as Gerard Depardieu, friends of the gallery and many collectors.

There is not only a sense of humor and beauty in Ramos’ works, but more important a significant touch of sarcasm, which makes his works so special to me! Can you guess my favorite work of Mel Ramos? Bekannt für deren unverkennbar guten Geschmack und das Auge für grosse Talente, zeigt die Galerie Gmurzynska aktuell eine Auswahl an diversen Werken von Mel Ramos in Zuger Galerie-Räumlichkeiten: Zug betont die Vielfältigkeit von Ramos’ Werken und Gedanken. Sie umfasst viele Materialien wie Harz, Bronze- und Stahl-Skulpturen sowie Ölmalereien, Papierarbeiten und Lithographien.

“Außerdem spiegelt die Ausstellung die Bedeutung der Semiotik, die Ramos zur Dekonstruktion der Gestalt der Werbung nutzt. Hier sind die fetischisierten Objekte als Katalysator für Marken, Produkte und die abgebildeten Frauen selbst ausgestellt.” so die Galeristen.

Das Eröffnungs-Event der Ausstellung wurde anlässlich der “Zuger Kunstnacht 2016” am 17. September 2016 in Anwesenheit der Galeristen, Mel Ramos, Stargast Gerard Depardieu sowie Freunden und Sammlern zelebriert.

Hinter Mel Ramos’ Werken verbirgt sich nicht nur ein fantastischer Sinn für Humor und Schönheit, sondern sein signifikanter Sarkasmus, welcher für mich, seine Werke so besonders macht.
