It’s this time of the year again! From January 24 through February 2, 2020 Geneva will be lit up by luminous art works. The 6th Edition of the Geneva Lux Arts & Lights Festival has been moved from the Advent time to January, to start the new year with an artsy spirit. It gives full attention to the poetic art works, undisturbed by Christmas lights.
What’s better than to start the new decade with the magic of lights and poetry with a stroll through the city?

What I look most forward to, is to see the Anooki sculptures:Â “The Anooki are two characters inspired by the Inuit. He comes from the Far North while she hails from the Far South. Their sea ice has melted. So now they travel the world, reminding us – with cheerful impertinence – that our planet is so very precious.
On 24 January 2020, two giant Anooki – as surprising as they are funny – will arrive in Geneva, transforming the streets into a most wonderful play area. They take over the cityscape, playing with the squares, buildings and monuments. In the presence of these cheerful visitors, the city appears to shrink to the size of a child’s bedroom.
Along a poetic circuit, we see the Anooki hanging from the roof of Geneva-Cornavin railway station. A little way along the route, they are playing hide-and-seek behind the pillars of St Pierre cathedral. Further along still, they are deep in a secret discussion on the archway in Rue Henri-Fazy, chasing one another in front of the Museum of Art and History and performing a round-off on the Place de la Madeleine. With each new meeting we imagine a different story.
The Inuit are among those primarily affected by the dramatic consequences of global warming. The Anooki will take refuge in Geneva for ten days. They raise the issue and increase public awareness by adopting a subtle, accessible and cheerful approach.”
