With love in our hearts and huge excitement for our baby girl to arrive soon, my girlfriends and I have organised a little baby shower to celebrate my pregnancy and bless our baby with good energy. Traditionally, baby showers are a way for friends and family to come together, support the mother-to-be and welcome a new chapter, while “showering” her and the baby with love, advice and a few practical gifts along the way.

For mine, we gathered on my favourite little oasis above the roofs of Zurich: the 1838 rooftop bar at the Mandarin Oriental Savoy, Zurich – for a relaxed summer afternoon overlooking the city. The privatised seated area at the 1838 felt elegant but effortless, with delicious Asian food, tasty cocktails, the cutest baby cake and cake pops, soft pink details and around 30 of my closest friends and family.

I wanted the day to feel less like a formal event and more like a chic rooftop get-together: good conversations, plenty of laughter and time to enjoy the people who have been part of this journey.

My best friend Sara, who is also the owner of Zurich’s coolest Kids Concept Store MY SNOWFLAKE beautifully decorated the gifts section and organised the gift registry. Towards the end of the celebration, we gathered at sunset to write down our wishes for our baby girl, attached them to helium-filled balloons and released them into the sky.

My friend Pietro Terzini, one of the most exciting names in contemporary and digital art, created two artworks for our baby girl’s gender reveal, baby shower and her nursery, something we were incredibly excited about.

We also used the artworks for the invitations, which we created with my new favourite app discovery from a recent Apple workshop: Apple Invites. It made the whole process feel effortless and personal, and I already know we’ll be using it again for birthdays, children’s parties and future celebrations.

A very special summer evening surrounded by so much joy, love and the best people –  a perfect way to celebrate our baby girl before her arrival. THANK YOU for everyone who was part of it.
