There is no better time to escape this ice-cold weather that is all over Europe (even the mountains are missing the sun these days), than now. Why not planning a spontaneous getaway to Dubai? 30 ° C, sunshine, beaches, the best 5 star hotels of the world – same goes for restaurants and beach clubs – and everything else you could actually wish for, just a casual 6h flight away.
Recently I escaped the rainy and cold Swiss weather to take a few days off and fly to Dubai. For me personally – one of my favorite business and short-holiday destinations in the world. Why?
It’s got this unique and vibrant energy. It’s futuristic, its driven. Dubai’s vision doesn’t have any limits. It’s so innovative. On the other hand you can also totally relax, unwind and just chill at one of the many luxurious beaches and pools. And this is exactly what I did.
EMIRATES 777 FIRST CLASS SUITES
I flew with the new Emirates 777 from Geneva to Dubai – with a very kind upgrade to their brand new contemporary designed First Class Suite, inspired by the Mercedes Benz S-Class.
I’ve seen a lot lately, but this beautiful suite is truly the next level of flying, of design, of comfort – and of luxury.
Feeling like flying in a 5 star hotel room, with your personal flight-butler, room service using a video call function (a serving window for total privacy), your own mini-bar, BVLGARI amenity kits, Hydra Active moisturizing pajamas, a seat that turns into an actual bed (with NASA inspired zero gravity function), a sky full of stars above and a floor full of stars below you . was the perfect choice for flying overnight and a guarantee for the sweetest dreams.
I took a day-time return-flight, which made me re-discover the variety of Emirates’ inflight entertainment system movies, documentaries as well as the exquisite first class haute cuisine menu prepared by gourmet chefs and a fascinating wine list. (By the way, did you know that Emirates has a special sommelier, that ensures, the handpicked wines taste as good up in the air as on ground?).
The Suites offer total privacy with floor to ceiling sliding doors. The design combines smart technology and intelligent design to deliver function as well as wellbeing and entertainment.
To ensure, all first class passengers have a view, Emirates introduces virtual-live windows for all suites located in the middle-aisle.
PARK HYATT DUBAI
Arrived in Dubai I’ve checked into the Park Hyatt Dubai, a true wellbeing oasis nestled on the shores of the Dubai Creek (a little outside of the busy city centre) facing the skyline of Dubai Financial District and the BurjKhalifa – most perfect views at sunset. It’s recently opened stunning 100m infinity lagoon leading into a beautiful private sandy beach, is the masterpiece of this beautiful resort with Mediterranean flair, that adds even more beauty to the perfect sunset view.
With its variety of fine dining restaurants, lounges, bars (indoors and outdoors/one better than the other) and holistic spa offering aromatherapy treatments and personal training, this is the place is to unwind and relax. Whether for families, couples, girls-weekends or single travelers.
SIDDHARTA LOUNGE BY BUDDHA BAR AT GROSVENOR HOUSE
Speaking of the night. Siddharta Lounge by Buddha Bar, based at the Grosvenor House Hotel, which belongs to The Luxury Collection, is a really cool place at Dubai Marina to have either drinks or shisha’s by the pool or have dinner and that whilst overlooking Dubai’s Palm at night and the towers around the Marina. A really cool place, that we’ve visited quite often – even if only for a drink pre or post dinner.
ZUMA DUBA
Zuma. Whether it’s in London, Rome, Dubai or Abu Dhabi. ZUMA is always a good idea. And it Dubai it’s extra contemporary, extra big and extra fun. Zuma needs no introduction, I guess, but what is there not to love about the exceptional food at Zuma?
ONE & ONLY ROYAL MIRAGE DUBAI
The One & Only Royal Mirage in Dubai is a one-of-a-kind hotel. Clean architecture, international, healthy fine-dining concepts and a young, vibrant audience from all around the world offer the perfect setting for the metropolitan traveler.
When looking to chill out in an Ibiza-like beach club atmosphere, sipping champagne and listening to Cafe del Mar sounds, DRIFT Beach by the One & Only definitely is the place to be (and to be seen).
What a great time! See you soon again, Dubai!
