Under the Moonlight with IWC

While the sun is associated with masculinity, the moon embodies femininity. Femininity is synonymous with sensuality, emotional strength, but also stands for the sensitive side of a woman. These contrasts represent the depths of a female’s emotional world, for which the moon has always been a symbol. In many myths and legends, it plays an important role. They tell the story of the moon being the mirror of our souls. A natural spectacle between invisibility and presence, the moon and its phases affect our dreams, our thoughts and feelings. Even when it’s not or only partly visible to us, the moon is still aways there – round and full. However, we rarely get to capture its beautiful completeness with the naked eye.

The new moon symbolizes a new beginning. Fresh forces, positive energy and creativity emerge during these phases. During a new moon phase, only a narrow crescent is visible, as the moon is illuminated from one side only. These phases of waxing and waning moon are also often mirrored in our sensorial and emotion perception.  Our emotions are always there, deep down in us. But for for others, they are often hidden. In our everyday life they are overshadowed by tasks, by challenges. In very rare moments they come to the fore, but only for a short period of time, as does the full moon, the eternal symbol of secrets…

Whether we believe it or not – scientific evidence for the infinite magic of the moon and the forces of the moon phases do not exist – but since the moon and its phases undeniably rules over the seven seas with its eternal interplay of ebb and flow ruling, we should at least consider that there might well be some truth in its myth and the most beautiful sign of time.

The new IWC Portofino midsize models with moon phase display perfectly embrace this mysterious charm. They combine the daily change of moon phases in a feminine way, with a star-studded display and a sparkling diamond case. A simple glance at the watch would allure you to dive into a dream.

To be continued…
