#WhereIsEloise?

It is 1955 and a New York luxury hotel is haunted. The guests’ belongings disappear, floods and a lot of smaller disasters terrorize the staff. In the kitchen, the suites and the majestic entrance hall objects magically change their position. All this because of Eloise: the six-year-old resides on the top floor of the Plaza and knows the hotel better than anyone else. She hides in the countless dark corners and overhears the guests’ talk, which accounts for her knowing each of their secrets… 🙂

A made-up story? Not at all! The little girl has been created by Kay Thompson, whose granddaughter happens to be Hollywood icon Liza Minnelli. It is pretty sure that the ghost of The Plaza New York is inspired by the little Liza who apparently did a lot of mischief as a girl. Kay Thompson lived in the Plaza herself for some time – she became world famous through her role as fashion editor in the film “Funny Face”, starring also Audrey Hepburn.

The slightly haughty heroine of Kay Thompson’s children’s books, as probably Liza Minnelli too, loves everything that is pink and has a good time at the Plaza. Together with her pug dog and her turtle she makes not only the nanny’s life difficult. The classic, which is equally worth reading for children and adults, takes place as already mentioned, in world-famous Plaza in the heart of New York – where, by the way, also the Christmas classic “Kevin – Lost in New York”Âť was filmed.

The Plaza had the brilliant idea to dedicate a suite to the little girl Eloise, including a kids concierge who fulfills all wishes of the little princesses. Eccentric fashion designer Betsey Johnson has come up with the design for the interior. The result: stripes, animal print, gold, kitsch – and above all lots of Pink. The interior is completely over the top – and absolutely fantastic! In the 18th floor, young and old can dive into Eloise’s world -and of course the Gift Shop of the Plaza offers every imaginable souvenir connected to Eloise. Among other things a small cardboard Eloise, who travels around the world to be photographed in all imaginable locations. These pictures can be posted by her fans on the website of the Plaza. Who would have thought that the six-year-old whose first story appeared in the 1950s would one day travel the world? Liza Minnelli will be flattered by the success for sure! And me too, as a big fan of Eloise, i felt like a child again, a princess in the most beautiful and historical castle of New York! Thank you! 🙂

Danke 🙂
